HERD IMMUNITY

We are on the right track to achieve herd immunity

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 last year and recent lockdown period in March 2021, the Economic Development Board (EDB) has always upheld the sanitary safety of the EDB staff as a topmost priority.

Herd immunity is crucial. COVID-19 vaccines are now widely available in many parts of the country. The EDB has a critical role to play in helping its employees access accurate information and making it easier for them to get vaccinated. By encouraging EDB staff to get vaccinated, we can definitely get more employees to become immune with a view to halt the Covid-19 spread and achieve herd immunity in the workplace.

Since the recent lockdown, most of the staff are now working from the office. The EDB has put in place all the necessary health and sanitary measures to ensure the safety of all EDB staff and visitors. Despite the spike in the number of cases in Mauritius, we are strictly maintaining the protocol and ensuring that staff members are adhering to it.

Building vaccine confidence is essential. One way to build that confidence is by making vaccine confidence visible in the workplace. It is a fact that staff who are hesitant at first may become more confident after seeing their colleagues get vaccinated and get motivated to do so.

Here at the EDB, we are strongly encouraging our colleagues to get vaccinated. Facilities and costless vaccination are being provided to all staff as well as their family members. We can proudly say that as at date, 95% of EDB staff have been vaccinated.
